Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the walkindb hosted API at https://api.walkindb.com and any related websites and documentation operated by walkindb (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by the Acceptable Use Policy at /legal/aup. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The walkindb open-source software itself is licensed separately under the Apache License 2.0. These Terms apply only to the hosted Service.
1. The Service
walkindb is a hosted SQLite endpoint. When you send a POST /sql request, the Service may provision a private SQLite database for your use, return a session token in the X-Walkin-Session response header, and execute the query. Each instance has a default lifetime of approximately 10 minutes, after which the instance and its contents are deleted automatically. The Service is designed to be used without registration.
The Service is provided as a convenience for ephemeral, low-stakes workloads such as LLM agent scratch space, prototyping, and learning. It is not a database of record, a backup destination, or a substitute for any production data store. We make no commitment that data stored in a walk-in instance will survive any particular event or any particular duration, including the nominal 10-minute TTL.
2. Eligibility
You may use the Service only if:
- You are at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction, or you are using the Service under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
- You are not located in, or a resident of, a country subject to comprehensive sanctions by the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, or the United Nations, and you are not on any sanctions list maintained by those bodies.
- Your use of the Service is not prohibited by any applicable law in your jurisdiction.
3. Acceptable use
Your use of the Service is governed by the Acceptable Use Policy at /legal/aup. The AUP is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Violations of the AUP are violations of these Terms.
4. Your data
You retain ownership of any data you submit to walkindb. You grant walkindb a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, transmit, and process that data solely to operate the Service for you (i.e., to execute your SQL queries and return results). This license terminates when the relevant instance is deleted.
We do not read, mine, train models on, sell, share, or analyze the contents of your walk-in databases. The full description of what we log and how long we keep it is in the Privacy Notice at /legal/privacy.
Because the Service is anonymous, we cannot tell whether data you submit belongs to you or to a third party. You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the right to submit any data you put into a walk-in instance, including under copyright, trade secret, contract, and data protection law. The AUP prohibits storing personal data about identifiable third parties; if you do so anyway, you do so in violation of these Terms and at your sole risk.
5. No warranty
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE. WALKINDB SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WALKINDB DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE; THAT DATA WILL PERSIST FOR ANY PARTICULAR DURATION; OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS.
You use the Service at your own risk. Do not store anything in a walk-in instance that you cannot afford to lose.
6. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WALKINDB, ITS OPERATORS, OR ITS CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR THE USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WALKINDB HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, walkindb’s total cumulative liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service is limited to one hundred euros (€100).
This section does not exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless walkindb and its operators against any third-party claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or the AUP.
- Your storage or transmission of any content through the Service that infringes any third party’s rights or violates any law.
- Any dispute between you and a third party arising out of your use of the Service.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason or no reason, including but not limited to suspected violation of the AUP, suspected illegal activity, abuse of the Service, or to comply with a legal obligation. Because the Service is anonymous, “termination” typically means blocking your source IP and killing any active instances tied to it.
You may “terminate” your relationship with the Service at any time simply by ceasing to use it. There is no account to delete. Logs of your access are retained for the period described in the Privacy Notice.
9. Open-source software
The walkindb server software is published under the Apache License 2.0. You are free to self-host. Self-hosted instances are not subject to these Terms or the AUP, but they are also not operated by walkindb and we provide no support or guarantees for them.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved through good-faith negotiation will be brought exclusively before the competent courts of Lisbon, Portugal, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence under EU consumer protection law.
11. Changes
We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top and announced in the walkindb changelog. Continued use of the Service after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance.
12. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. These Terms, together with the AUP and the Privacy Notice, constitute the entire agreement between you and walkindb concerning the Service and supersede any prior agreement between us on the subject.
